Character Canon: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Link to History: Follows canon until the Movie, basically.
- 2020 to 2029: The Foot Clan release the Krang in 2020, the turtles didn't have a Casey Jones Jr handy to tell them about how the key was important. So the Krang end up being able to get a foothold and start the invasion. Lots of fighting, at some point the Hidden City is found and thus humans and yokai have to band together. Splinter passes early into the invasion, this leads to Donnie researching how to capture Hamato Spirits (as he can't look up the Foot Clan's instructional videos on youtube).
2029: Casey Jones Jr is born! Leo is leading the rebellion, Donatello seems disinterested but is focused on his projects it's only when...
2035 (early): the Krang find the base, various folks are injured or killed (Including Cassandra Jones). Raph can't be found afterwards, this leads Donnie putting more of his own efforts into helping at the new base, building a replacement arm for Leo (as he lost his during the attack on the old base), buffing security with his mystic tech etc. Raph shows up heavily injured months later, Donnie and his brothers do what they can to preserve Raph's soul and it's eventually put in a mystic relic which is used to make a RoboRaph.
2036: RoboRaph is lost in a mission, much to Donnie's annoyance/chagrin/etc.
2041: RoboRaph is found and recovered because of Casey! Yay.
2042: At some point, possibly early in the year, Donatello ends up infected with a Krang Virus that eats away at him. He does his best to hide this, as there is no cure and he would prefer to not make his family worry. Of course this is found out, and so he puts his efforts into making sure the rebellion can survive without him. In November, Donatello is aware he's close to dying and instead of letting himself rot he goes off to infiltrate a Technodrome (against his brothers wishes, of course) to install a virus of his own. Some harsh words are said before he left as well. This results in his death a week before Casey Junior's 14th birthday.

Canon Iteration: Canon Alternate/Aged?
Canon Iteration Explanation: Well, he's lived during an apocalypse. Fighting in a war with the Krang that was caused because of his twin has made him a tired little shit of a 38 year old. Which who wouldn't be if they had been fighting since 16? So he's a bit more bitter and tired but also an adult.

❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes

Skills:
- Bōjutsu: Donnie was trained in combat with a bo staff and it proficient in it, more so than when he was younger.
- Genius Intellect: His intelligence is higher than one would expect someone his age, his areas of expertise range from chemistry, literature, cryptology, physics, engineering, biology, mathematics, mystic properties and botany. He may be on par with PHDs/Masters educated in these fields, or at least he's close to that. He also has some skill in the medical field, but would not consider himself on par with a real doctor, as he had to learn what he could to be useful to the rebellion.
- Ninjutsu: He has basic skills, in stealth, speed and agility. He may not be on par with his brothers, but he's no slouch either.
- Mutation Bonus: Donnie was made to be a weapon by Baron Draxum with the goal of destroying humanity. Thus he is stronger, faster and more durable than a human. In his youth he fought mutants bigger than him, and he's taken on Krang and held his own during the apocalypse.
Canon Abilities:
- Hamato Ninpo: Donnie has access to his family's mystic abilities, which he can tap into and uses to generate what he calls "Mystic tech". He can also take an object and turn it into a bo staff if he does not have access to one at the time. He also uses it to create various weaponry, mostly long range weapons that can be as small as mini-missiles to as large as well... The guns on a battle ship. It's also stronger when he can connect with his family, if this applies to alternate universe versions? Not sure.

- Technology Generation: Donnie can connect, and improve, his tech with his ninpo and create them as well. He has mostly used it to maintain security for the rebellion and thus he's not used it for combat as much.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: He's getting almost the whole shebang here, mood ring eyes (because Donnie tends to try to hide his feelings), and wings that are tech-like in appearance something like this but purple.
Role Reasoning: Whilst Donatello would not consider himself a hero, let alone a Legend, he was a final bastion of safety for his family. Putting his all into protecting his family and also his final act in life being an attempt to ensure the survival of his family. The war against the krang changed Donnie, as he is less selfish and closer to a "hero" then he would ever consider himself. Also there is room for him to grow into the role and just what that means to him, or for him to fall from it into Myth status.

❥ What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
The gradual lost of friends and family, starting with Splinter, then Cassandra and Raph and various others. They all lead to different things with Donatello, Splinter's passing making him devote time and energy to learning how to capture Hamato Spirits. Cassandra's and Raph's making him put forth more effort in the rebellion, and in Raph's case basically flipping death off to save his eldest brother. The weight of the losses also weighed on him and he assumed his brothers who survived, and he also tried his best to just keep going.

Which hey, meant he did have to put aside his own wants and how he would deal with emotions (as he would do his best not to), by actually becoming someone who can deal with that kind of stuff.

❥ What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
His brothers, mostly his twin Leo. Because up until they met April, his brothers were the only source of socialization Donatello ever had. The fact that he and Leo are the same age (well not anymore, hahaha death) means that is the brother that Donatello felt understood him the best. Sure, he gets along well with Mikey, in that they hung out a lot together when they were younger, but as Mikey got more into Mystic things and Donnie being against magic? To the point he had to make his mystic powers tech related to tolerate them, there may have been some drifting apart between those two.

But Leo has always been there, and before the invasion he was the social buffer between Donnie and the world. Although that changed with Leo taking on command of the rebellion, Donnie still sees Leo as one of the most important relationships in his life.

❥ What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.
Emotions, his own and others. As Donnie is very much a low empathy fellow, this is something he has attempted to change in the 22 years he's lived in the Krang infested world but he still feels like he could do better. As he feels awkward when things get to emotional, he feels like he will do or say the wrong thing in these cases. While he's a bit better than he was when he was a teen, via him masking and just eventually reaching a point with that where he can't stop doing it. His improvement is all fake and could easily just fall apart, and part of him is aware of this.

❥ Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
Hahahaha, Donatello and forgiveness. Even after being in a war for 22 years of his life? He's still kind of a bitter little shit, he will hold things against people until he dies or they do something to prove they've changed to him. Which is very unlikely to happen. There is some stuff he'll forgive, like for example; He does not hold it against Leo that the Key that allowed the Krang to escape the Prison Dimension was lost because of him. Not because Leo's his brother, or his twin, but because Leo was a dumb kid at the time and they didn't know what the Key was for. But aside from that, Donatello isn't much for forgiveness.

❥ What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed?
For a literal place that he feels safe in? Donnie has two, his lab and the greenhouse that he tended in the base. As he feels the most settled and comfortable when he is working and being of use to people, which he can achieve in either of those places. Since his tech was being used to keep people safe and the greenhouse was providing food that they didn't have access to anymore. For a more metaphorical safe space? Donnie feels like that when he's in his element, when he knows a subject or topic inside and out. When he is the smartest person in the room, which might be a lot when around his brothers, at least that's how he thinks sometimes.
