[For now though, Donnie is putting down his relic and Leo gets to hear him ripping fabric. Or trying to, since he's only got one hand, so he can deal with the bleeding himself.]
[There's a pause, and then footsteps, as Caduceus approaches, grasping his staff from where he'd left it against a wall. He is. So tired. But he's ready to go, and finish things. This undead monster will not be tolerated or allowed to hurt anyone else.]
[Ooough this is a lot harder than he thought, also boy that's a lot of blood, also. Really Leo? He barely listened to you back home, what makes Leo think that is going to work here?]
I'm fine, neither of you need to come I can handle this...
[Oh, Donatello does not sound good over the relic. Caduceus blinks at the offer, though he doesn't resist... at least, not physically. However-]
Let's head there, first. I don't want you to strain yourself, when we need your power to get us there.
[He saw Leonardo practically tear his hand open trying to create a portal earlier back to the lair. Triage: they need to reach Donatello first, and if he runs out now, flying would very likely be too slow. If he still has magic to spare then, they can discuss it.]
Right. [He's not about to argue the point, he reluctantly closes the relic. Cutting his connection to his twin for the moment. He tucks his relic into his pocket, exchanging it for a stone that fits neatly in his palm.
Time away from the situation, time to grieve, did its job. Leonardo is centered as he can manage. Calm, controlled, commander.
Leonardo takes a step or two back to use his ninpo to draw his katana to the surface. The portal opens with a swipe of his blade through the air. The magic crackles and settles.] Here.
[They will step through into the lab with no issue at least.]
[The lab... Has seen better days, the fact it looks like an explosive went off in it shouldn't surprise Leo considering he was listening to what went down. But two things are of note; one!
Casey's dialysis machine is in one piece, huzzah!
And two, there is a nice mixture of inert Belos goo and blood that is very obviously not red. Which honestly Leo will know whose blood that is, especially since the source of it is slumped near the machine and he tiredly looks in the direction of Leo's portal.]
I told you, m'fine.
[You know, if you ignore that his one arm has been shot. Totally fine!]
[Cadauceus takes in the sight around them as he strides towards where Donatello has fallen.]
Mm, yes, you look just great. [What a mess. Nothing about this place looks natural, which is par for the course when it comes to Thoth (he doesn't come here often for a few reasons, that being one of them) but there's no mistaking that familiar goo. Even the blood, though...
Well, nothing to be done about that right now. It's already out of him, so let's focus on keeping the rest in. He crouches down next to Donatello to examine the wound, calling back to Leonardo.]
Same as last time, then. Keep watch while I do this.
[Just like with Hunter, it wasn't entirely safe while he healed. If the goo becomes active again, someone will have to step in, and he's about to be busy.]
[Leonardo manages to restrain a sigh at his twin’s insistence. Donnie as always is… Donnie. The lab has seen much better days, but it can be cleaned up once Donnie is stable.] Just let us help you, Dee.
[He trails a little after Caduceus, but doesn’t stick too close. His attention is on the goo around them. Not great.] Understood. I got you.
I handled it, if it was still active it would have done something by now.
[But he isn't in much of a state to do anything about Cad and whatever he's up to, as much as Donnie doesn't like the guy.
The wound is to his forearm, thankfully, and very much from a small caliber gun. If Cad even knows what that looks like. There are signs of some attempt to either stop the bleeding or clean himself up, judging by the fact there is pink blood on the shirt Donnie is wearing.]
We thought that as well, and then it started gathering together to attack us.
[Funny enough, he does know a little about guns, though only through seeing one here and there. He hasnt been shot, nor has he treated a gunshot wound. But one projectile wound is similar enough to another when it comes to magic healing, and he's seen plenty of bow/crossbow injuries, so. Here goes.]
This will irritate you, I'm sure. Consider closing your eyes.
[Maybe if he doesn't see the magic it'll bother him less. Caduceus doesn't care either way, honestly, and he rests his hand gently on the wound, casting a curative spell. As the magic flows in, it looks as if a layer of soft moss grows over the impact spot, tiny vines weaving around one another to knit the flesh and scales back together, slowing down the bloodloss.]
[Leonardo snorts at the comment on Cad’s part, but his attention stays on the lab around them. He keeps his katana drawn.
The best thing to do is making sure there is no more looming threat. He will protect both of them if needed.] It’ll be quick, Dee. You’ll feel less full of holes in a second.
It's one hole, and whatever it was didn't expect it.
[He's focusing his attention on Leo now, just ignoring Cad and whatever he's doing. Even if it feels weird, and is magic. And the goo is, for all intents and purposes, very inert and not doing shit.]
... Mm, it said it removed Casey.
[He shan't say it, he won't say it, his attention on Leo as he even says that much. Because he knows that how Leo reacts is going to be proof of the teenager's fate.]
[At that, Caduceus pauses, his gaze shifting towards Leonardo as well. He doesn't look surprised, nor does he stop casting the spell; as the wound seals over to cease the bleeding, the bits of moss crumble, turn to dust, and fall away. It wasn't an especially strong heal, most of that was used up in the lair, but it's enough to stabilize Donatello and keep his life out of danger. He can do another one after they're certain that the Belos situation is truly resolved. They'd made a promise to Hunter, after all.
As for Casey... well, he's not sure if Leonardo wants to have that conversation here and now, so he'll leave that to the actual father in the equation. But his own lack of surprise probably starts telling the story.]
[Leonardo remains silent for a bit too long, trying to find the words. His grip tightens on the hilt of his katana. His hand shaking before he exhales sharply.
Anguish sits heavy over him as he speaks. His tone quiet.]
Belos killed Casey. I couldn't save him, I didn't find him soon enough. [Blame is easy and familiar enough to wear. His gaze is fixated on a nearby wall, trying to stay steady.]
It's why- [He stumbles over the word, before catching himself.] why I was calling you. I wanted you to know.
[Yeah, Cad's reaction? Means jack shit to Donnie, what's important is Leo. He's seen this before from his brother, considering how things were back home it'd be surprising if he hadn't. But also this is different, very different.
He doesn't move, not out of courtesy to Cad but because he's still a little out of it himself, after Leo is done speaking. Nor does he say anything right away.]
[Caduceus purses his lips, but finishes the heal and straightens up, turning to start examining the goo around them, his eyes gleaming silver as he starts searching for living undead in the area. They need to make sure it's truly over, so the monster will not come back yet again. It's happened at least three times already; one more is a danger they can't tolerate.]
He'll be back, Donnie. I- [He stumbles over his words. His voice shakes audibly before he manages to press himself back into composure. It isn't perfect, but he isn't breaking in half as badly as he could.] It's not a goodbye, he'll be back.
[Leonardo has no idea what he would do if Casey didn't come back, so he's not indulging that line of thought even slightly.
He forces himself to take a breath, turning his attention to Caduceus. He's quiet as the man looks only, only speaking up when he's sure he's not interrupting.] I'll give you a boost if you need it. Nothing has been moving as far as I've seen.
Of course. [He kinda got it all out on Belos by blowing him up, so he's very. Flat and matter of fact about the whole situation. Instead he's giving Caduceus a dirty look, not caring if either of the other men notice.]
It's dead, I'm very thorough with this kind of thing.
[Leo would know how little mercy Donnie gave the Krang, this would be no different.]
Creatures like that rarely stay dead unless... encouraged.
[He's not taking risks, not at this point. He turns to Leonardo, that silver sheen still marking his eyes, and this time he nods.]
Yeah, this time I'll take it.
[They made it in time, and it's worth the attempt. He's not sure what exactly it means, but he's willing to let Leonardo help him now that they're here.]
[Leonardo closes what distance lay between him and Caduceus, reaching out to lay a gentle hand against the other man's arm.] I'm touching you to make sure it works, it'll be quick.
[The only other time he's reached out to someone like this was Casey. That had been easier in a way. Casey had already had a link to the family. He had ninpo be it, something borrowed that had become his own. This is a different situation entirely. Inviting someone in to share some of his ninpo. Someone who isn't already family or family adjacent. He trusts, hell, he loves Caduceus enough to offer him this even for a brief time. To give him power when he's used so much of his own already. He speaks the words that feel like the most apt way to offer this power to the other man. Speak the power into existence. Make it real, make it true.] あなたは一人じゃない [He gently squeezes the other man's arm. He takes in a breath and releases it as his power begins to pool at his fingertips. Blue energy crackling between them before Caduceus likely feels the surge of power pour into him. With it comes a brief flash of what the Ninpo entails. Love. Generations of love and familial dedication that spooled together to create a new kind of magic like this. Love from dead and living alike that lingers and offers a sense of safety. A sense of belonging. Voices of long dead and lost meld together to form something protective.
There is also the brief echo of Leonardo's own affection for Caduceus himself. A fierce dedication that comes with a friendship like theirs, with Leonardo's own feelings.
The feelings fade, leaving only the magic behind. The turtle draws his hand away, managing a passing smile.]
That felt like it worked. [His own attention turns back to his brother, wanting to go over to him, but stalling for now. He wants to be with Donnie, but if anything is still up, he can protect both Cad and Donnie if he's here.]
[Donnie might not be a mystic master like Mikey, but he sure as hell has some vague idea of what Leo is doing. Too bad he's still not one hundred percent, because he's not up and in his brother's business until it's all said and done.
But he is for sure grabbing Leo by an arm now and practically hissing at his twin. He says nothing, but the absolute look of disgust on his face says more than words do, anyway.]
[Caduceus doesn't have a spell for languages, and even if he did, it's only for written. Still, those words resonate as Leonardo passes the power of his ninpo along, and it feels familiar nonetheless. He closes his eyes briefly, allowing it to flow within and replenish some of the reserves that he'd drained over the course of the day so far. It doesn't give back the magic he's already used, but he does feel more stable than before, and a confidence that the next attempt will be stronger than usual. That's... good. That'll help. They want to be certain that this time, nothing escapes to threaten a single other person in this world. And he'd very much like to protect this family going forward, starting now.
A power borne from love... it's wonderful, a warm and soothing sensation that he'll admit he hasn't felt to this extent since he was pulled from his world, and severed from his normally-deeper connection to the Wildmother. It's not quite the same, but it's so close to the gentle warmth of her godly embrace, he feels a clenching in his chest, a lump in his throat he has to swallow back down. His eyes mist. It isn't her, but... it helps him remember what it was like. And not just her, either. His mother's strong, callused hands over his, pressing down into the soil of the graveyard, her soothing encouragements a promise to always be there. "Would you like some help?"
It's been so long, now.
His staff thunks heavily against the floor, one tap, two. And when his eyes open again, flashing a bright, brilliant silver like before (but stronger, now, more intense and unmuffled), the casting of Destroy Undead ripples out from his space into every inch of the workshop they're standing in. Like a warm spring breeze it washes over everything, carrying with it the scent of sweet greenery, twisting vines and fresh cut grass and petals in the wind. It dissolves the tiny puddles of undead Belos goo left on the ground, the stains of corruption that lingers, even anything leftover inside Donatello after Belos's possession attempt (not the Krang infection though, that's not undead and not a problem he's solving). It pours through the area in a handful of intense, unrelenting waves, before the effect begins to fade.
He takes a deep breath, feeling... nothing. It's gone. There should be nothing left, now.]
[Leonardo doesn't understand what the reaction even is on Donnie's part. He yields to the tug, blinking tiredly as he tries to gauge what his twin is hissing about. He isn't sure what is making Donnie disgusted? Magic?
Not that his attention lingers on his brother long, he glances back at Caduceus, relieved the ninpo is helping. Even if it isn't perfect, it is something. A boost after burning for so much.
It works. It is almost beautiful in a way as nature takes over what once was corruption. The magic that unfurls around them helps Leonardo feel like he can start to relax. Some of his tension dropping away. It certainly helps that he finds comfort in Caduceus spell work. This is his friend. An ally. Someone Leonardo loves, who is protecting his family. It is a comfort.
Having his twin within reach and Cad here helps. Eases the heavy weight in his chest. The grief won't disappear, but it can be lightened with people you love.]
You alright, Dee? Still hurting-? [He reaches out to rest a hand against his brother's shoulder. Concern easy enough to see in his face.] You wanna get home?
